Not too heavy

        not too light

Our word Baptism comes from the Greek word "baptizo" meaning to immerse, dip repeatedly, to make clean with water, ritual washing.

Therefore when we baptise a person, be they adult, young child or baby, they are being ritualy cleansed from sin that Jesus death makes possible, and we recieve new life that God gives us through the Holy Spirit.  In baptism the promises of God are signed and sealed for us.  We are united with Jesus and made members of His body, the church universal.   For more information on baptism follow this link http://anglican- musings.blogspot.com/2007/05/meaning-of-baptism.html

WHAT IS BAPTISM?

At Saint Brendan's we conduct around 40 baptism a year. The service usually begins at 11:45am on a Sunday morning.

A question that is often asked is "How many Godparents?" Normally there would be two godmothers and one godfather for a girl and two godfathers and a godmother for a boy however one of each for is sufficient. Godparents must be able to answer the question "Do you turn to Christ?" with "I turn to Christ" they must also be able to answer in the words of the Apostles creed when asked the questions "Do you believe in God the Father?" "Do you believe in God the Son?" and "Do you believe in the Holy Spirit?". If chosen Godparents are unable to answer these questions unfortunately they cannot be God parents.
